I feel like I'm accomplishing more lately. I still feel like I have a long way to go. But, it's nice to feel as if I've accomplished some things. My new things...that I have yet to use are the Covey Matrix and Block Scheduling. We'll see how it goes. I'll get the tasks all set and times that I'm going to do certain things. After that, it'll just be a matter of plugging things into the right slots. And...to be consistent in continuing to do that. I think that's one of my biggest issues. Consistency. It's a big deal. I also need to figure out a way to plan on a consistent basis as well. The best system isn't going to work unless I actually do it.
I also need to find a way to have the tasks visible and add habits as much as I am able. It's seems that if I can make a habit out of something...I'm much more likely to be consistent.

Planning 2018
I've been working on my bullet journal for 2018. I've been coming up with ideas about the new year and how to make things work. I've been thinking about the things I can do with the kids. And, about things I need/want to accomplish. I'm getting excited. I'm trying to get closer to living a half way normal life. I still miss Layne - yet, at the same time trying to get used to doing things on my own. I know if I'm able to get a plan going - I'll be able to accomplish a few things. I feel like the last little bit I've had some days when I've been able to get a few things done. That feels good. I want to keep the momentum going.

Writing It Down
I'm trying to be more consistent with planning. It needs to happen daily. At this point, I'm working on making sure that is part of my routine. My plan is to eventually get a few more routines going so life will go a little smoother. In the next couple of days I'm going to be working on some lists. I'm thinking to get lists made and tasks scheduled in so they're more likely to get done. I'm also going to be working on a list of projects - for the house, for the yard, for me, for the kids, and with the kids. The intention is to get things written down so I can have it all in front of me and decide priorities. It seems that only then will I be able to be most productive with planning.

Project Management Skills
5/27/15
today i noticed that in the case of working on her purse our oldest daughter has done a fabulous job of consistently working on it each day and coming up with a plan for the next session each time she finishes for the day. i have never been like that. it's odd to me that she has done this because she is one of my kids that struggles with other things that signal executive functioning issues. so, not sure what to think. on the other hand, she loves to plan things - especially events and productions. so, like i said, not sure what to think. i told her today that i was impressed with her project management skills. i've been talking with her brothers about learning to follow through with a plan and be consistent. i think we're going to start calling it project management skills from now on.

Earth Day
This is an example of how organized we are NOT around here. Earlier in the week, on of our daughters mentioned that Tuesday was Earth Day and we could do something about it. She suggested something like making a place outside more beautiful or taking care of it. There was an idea about picking up trash at a local park put out there. This is a great thing, right? Child in the family realized a day is coming up when we have a chance to make a difference and show gratitude for the world around us. She offers an idea of how to make that happen. Others are on board. This is fabulous.
So, the conversation moves forward with Dad stating that if we're going to make any place outside look a little better - it's going to be our own yard. Hmm...some of the previous enthusiasm is zapped. But, there's still some energy flowing that makes us feel like it's a good thing to move forward with for the day.
The unfortunate part? We didn't make a plan. So, it never really happened.
What did happen? We were driving to dance class for the girls and the same daughter that brought it up in the first place states that it's Earth Day. I responded with regret that we hadn't done anything. She asked why we were driving a car on the freeway in honor of Earth Day. Uh, umm...she had me on that one. Good question. So, we continued our talk about pollution and ways we can be kind to the earth.
As you can guess, this is not the first time a brilliant idea has been passed up at our house just because there wasn't enough planning involved. Bugs me just a little bit.
So, as someone who has issues with this - I need to make sure I start the planning right then and there. And then commit to a specific time when I will finish up the planning and move onto the next phase. It's a nice thought, isn't it?
