Planning 2018

I've been working on my bullet journal for 2018. I've been coming up with ideas about the new year and how to make things work. I've been thinking about the things I can do with the kids. And, about things I need/want to accomplish. I'm getting excited. I'm trying to get closer to living a half way normal life. I still miss Layne - yet, at the same time trying to get used to doing things on my own. I know if I'm able to get a plan going - I'll be able to accomplish a few things. I feel like the last little bit I've had some days when I've been able to get a few things done. That feels good. I want to keep the momentum going.

Purpose

This blog was going to originally be about helping my kids. We were doing the public school thing at the time and I realized I had gained quite a bit of experience and a few tips on how to advocate for your child in the public school system. We have been homeschooling for the past several years. I no longer need to work with the faculty/staff to help my children with their IEP goals and 504 needs. I don't know all of the ins and outs of the current system. There were also other professionals I was working with in regards to my children. I'm not working with them anymore either. So, not much of a need for a blog that covers that anymore.
I'm going to be focusing more on my journey. In all of that helping with the kids - I discovered that there's a 96.5% chance that I'm Adult ADD. I learned quite a bit about Executive Functioning at the time and now realize that it's going to be a journey for me to figure out what works best and how I can achieve my goals and fulfill needs. So, instead of this being about my kids...it's now about me.
My kids also have some executive functioning issues. That's how all of this started. The things I will be learning, sharing, and trying to work on are also things that I will be helping them with as well.

Getting Started

Today we were doing a twenty minute clean up. Jonny was working on dishes. He made a comment about how we should just get in the habit of doing the dishes after a meal. Hmm...what a great idea. I told him that we used to be in the habit of cleaning up the kitchen after a meal - but, not so much anymore. And yes, we need to get back to that. There are routines we need to get back to and others that we need to incorporate into our day. I think it's great when the kids mention it. Well, I mostly do. If they're mentioning something sometimes it means we've hit a new low. That's the part I don't like. The part I do like is that they are thinking about issues and solutions. They are more invested in helping out if they understand the reason for it. I think that's big. So, I'm glad he mentioned something. We'll need to get on that one. We're meeting tonight. Maybe we'll discuss household routines. At least it's a start.

Productivity

I've been doing a terrible job of being productive these days. It might be because of the holidays. It might feel like life needs to be slow right now. I know it has to be bad when the nine year old states that we need to get back to doing jobs. She's completely right. I've been thinking to get back to routines next week.
